In his keynote entitled "The Challenges of Modeling and Evolving Cross-Organizational Processes", Manfred discussed the technological challenges arising for the modeling and evolution of cross-organizational business processes. Furthermore, he presented selected concepts and techniques developed in the DBIS research project Opens internal link in current windowC³Pro that adress these challenges.

EVL-BP'13 Keynote in Vancouver

Manfred Reichert was invited keynote speaker at the 6th Int’l Workshop on Evolutionary Business Processes (EVL-BP’13) – EVL-BP’13 took place in Vancouver, Canada on Sep 9, 2013. In his keynote entitled "From Theory to Practice – Transferring Innovative BPM Research to Industrial Practice", Manfred reported on DBIS research projects targeting at the flexible and efficient support of knowledge-intensive and human-centric business processes. In particular, he emphasized how innovative technologies developed in these projects were successfully transferred to industrial practice.

In his keynote entitled "Collaboration and Interoperability Support for Agile Enterprises in a Networked World: Emerging Scenarios, Research Challenges, Enabling Technologies", Manfred discussed major research challenges to be tackled when targeting at IT support for the agile enterprise.

Keynote by Barbara Weber at BPMuy in Uruguay

Barbara Weber was giving a keynote at Primeras Jornadas Uruguayas de Gestión y Tecnologías de Procesos de Negocio (BPMuy) in Montevideo, Uruguay. BPMuy is the first conference on business process management in Uruguay, which tries to promote the topic of business process management and strives for bringing academics, public organisations and industry together. The event is organized by Dr. Ing. Andrea Delgado and MSc. Ing. Daniel Calegari, who are working for the Instituto de Computación at Universidad de la Repúblic in Montevideo, Uruguay. In her keynote, Barbara adressed flexibility issues as presented in the book.

romeManfred Reichert was invited keynote speaker at the 20th Int'l Conference on Cooperative Information Systems (CoopIS'12) --CoopIS'12 took place in Rome, Italy from Sep 12-14, 2012. In his keynote entitled "Process and Data - Two Sides of the Same Coin?", Manfred addressed the fundamental relations existing between business processes on one hand and business objects on the other. Furthermore, with PHILharmonic Flows he introduced an integrated framework for the flexible support of object-aware processes. The relation between process and data is discussed in Chapter 13 of our book, while the PHILharmonicFlows framework is presented in Chapter 14.

In her keynote, Barbara discussed challenges in the context of reuse and presented selected techniques for addressing those.

taprovizManfred Reichert was invited keynote speaker of the Int'l Workshop on Theory and Applications of Process Visualization (TaProViz'12), which took place in the context of the BPM'12 conference in Tallinn, Estland. In his keynote, Manfrd addressed the visualization of large and complex process models. He discussed the core challenges to be tackled in this context, followed by a presentation of concrete techniques and application examples, e.g., for abstracting complex process models. The latter were developed in the DBIS projects Proviado and proView. In particular, updatable process views as enabled in proView will allow users to adapt and change process models (see Chapters 7 and 9 of our book) based on related high-level abstractions.
